My client wanted to take an old, decaying back patio area that was largely unused and turn it into a welcoming covered dining area and gathering space. It was important that the space be useful regardless of weather while still allowing light into an area with dense tree cover. A new timber framed patio cover with semi-transparent polycarbonate roofing lets light in while blocking harmful UV rays and rain. Originally envisioned as a combination deck and paver patio area with landscape plantings surrounding it, the project evolved into a much larger multi-level deck space with room for a portable fire pit.
